February 19th Worship Celebration

The concluding worship service of Pencader will be held at 2:00 in the afternoon on February 19th, 2012. Session has chosen to worship at that time instead of our usual 11:00 hour so that old friends, members, and pastors can join us, even if they have other Sunday morning commitments.

Many distinguished figures from this church's past and present will participate in a celebration that will befit Pencader's 300+ years. Pat Singleton will participate, as will Bob Undercuffler. (Beth Doty is very disappointed that she will not be able to attend.) Dee Fell will be back, again leading the "small-church choir." Of course Laurel Brundage will be there, Melinda Benson will direct Pencader's faithful singers, and Demetrius Delancy will take his usual place at the piano.

Representatives from other churches in the Presbytery will come and stand by us in this hour. Some have already been remembering, honoring, and praying for Pencader during their own worship services.

We will all feast once more at the Lord's Table together. Most likely, we will both grieve and celebrate, laugh some and cry some, remember what was and hope for what will be, and praise our God who was and is and evermore shall be.

It will all happen THIS SUNDAY!

So be sure to mark the date and time on your calendar and spread the word to old friends and new!

The future of this website

This website will continue. Instead of focusing on Sunday worship, it will celebrate Pencader's heritage and serve as a tool that can help its people stay connected. We plan to share news, information and updates here and on Pencader's Facebook page. Be sure to "tune in" next week to learn more!

Community Garden news

The Community Garden will be an ongiong legacy of Pencader Presbyterian Church. We expect it will continue for many years after the congregation ends its days.

An organizing team met at the church on Thursday, February 16th. Plans for the garden are already in the works, but it's not too late to become part of the team! If you're not interested in being on the team, there's still a place for you -- we'll need lots of gardeners to make good use of all the new plots that will be available.

Updates will be posted on this page and/or on Pencader's Facebook page. All you need to do to receive the latest garden news via email is ask Lucille Short. Any time you need more information, contact her, or speak to Lance Shorter.

About the weather...

Nothing will keep us from worshipping this Sunday. "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night" will prevent us from worshipping on this appointed day!
